>> friends, family and complete strangers gather tonight on street in east oakland to remember a child. >> 13-year-old clark was gunned down on his way home from trying to help a friend. laura is live at oakland police headquarters with the latest on the investigation for us. laura? >>reporter: hi carolyn. police have yet to make any arrest in this case. in the meap time there was a small vigil tonight in the neighborhood where jamar clark was gunned down last night. gave folk as chance to come out and express their sorrow at the loss of someone so young. so full of promise.

first there were just a few. then many more people gathered on oakland bancroft avenue until the crowds spilled into the street. they came to pay their respects to 13-year-old clark. gunned down here 24 hours earlier. many here were classmates of his at 46 middle school. >> why him? he was he wasn't even doing nothing. mipingd his business. >> enough is enough. 13 year old guy. the i mean, i know him. >> i just heard gunfire. >>reporter: this woman told us she heard 5 or 6 gunshots and then the sound of foot steps running from where the boy's body lay on the sidewalk. >> people are just actually walking streets shooting people. >>reporter: star track athlete at 46 he was supposed to begin freshman year at sky line high next monday. on wednesday he would have turned 14. >> he's a cal killed. he really didn't get ining in bad. he always got good

thank you. we stay in oakland another moment. more than 1,000 pg&e customers lost power there after an underground vault fire. fire equipment fair happened on 15 street in the oak section of downtown oakland. power went out to customers in that area and most service repaired by 8:00 p.m. and no word on what caused the fire. >> san jose firefighters say 3 fires in less than 2 hours stretched them to the limit early this morning. the fire destroyed 2 homes, damaged an asphalt plant and killed overly pets. one residents lost 2 dogs 4 cats and 9 birds. took a fire engine 10 minute to arrive. >> i notice the garage some smoke sneaking through. i thought uh-oh. i came outside and wondering why they were taking so long. >>reporter: well the

firefighters union is blaming recent cuts to the department but the city denies that saying the delayed response was the result of 2 big fires in the same area at the same time. tomorrow firefighters will continue voting on whether to take a nearly 9 percent cut in pay and benefits in order to bring back 49 laid off firefighters. >> swedish home furnishings jaint will add warehouse few block from his existing east bay store an addition opposeded by neighbors. it's located at the interchange of 3 busy freeway and while the planning commission voted in favor of them tonight neighbors say the fight is not over. amy is live in emeryville. >> what a meeting tonight carolyn. easy to think of emeryville as one big, big box store but there are about 7000 residents here and many of them are fighting hard against ikea. there is no denying the power of ikea. >> i love that it is cost

sewage pichlt it broke yesterday afternoon spilling 5000 gallons roughly of raw sewage into the redwood shores lagoon and nearby streets and homes. people are being warned to avoid any contact with that lagoon and tainted homes. they of course will need extensive decontamination. authorities don't know yet what caused the pipe to rupture but one neighbor says it may have something to do with recent sewer line work. >> raises a question in my mind is about is the failure related to recent work or something else? >> the sewage is being pumped into tanker truck and transported to a treatment plant. >> also on the peninsula 24 hour strike by trash collectors ends tomorrow. but garbage has piled up at thousands of homes and businesses in san carlos, san mateo oshtion hillsboro and burlingame. 300 crash collectors walked off the job yesterday in support of a

to take a stand against it. >> bad for kids. it is bad for our employees. >>reporter: peter hanley is worried if prop 19 passes. people can start growing pot inside their homes which may be near a school. also unlike alcohol there is no way to measure how high someone is at work. and anyone over 21 could legally have an ounce of pot in their possession. >> only prohibits adult consumption. 19 allows adults to have mayor 1 on our school campuses. >> that's right. >> that's significant. >> really done think this proposition in any way endangers school kids. >>reporter: dave hodges is the founder of the san jose cannabis buyer collective. he agrees pot should be handled responsibly. that's why he doesn't think adult should bring it on campus unless it is for medicine use. he also doesn't think growing pot plants near a school is a big deal. >> definitely not something to be concerned about. like any
